I don't want to spend much. No more than £5 or £10.

I don't want a fake.

£5 and £10 coins arent really worth faking - ebay should be safe if you keep a vigilant eye. Run it by someone here first to check. I just dont think many places will be selling them that cheap with shipping - ebay has the added advantage of variety too.

You should be able to find what your looking for on e-bay. V-coins would also be a good place to go but there prices may be out of the range you want to spend. Though I would check them out also.

You can find a suitably impressive (30-33mm) sized worn bronze for about that amount. Trajan or Antoninus Pius even Marcus. You will probably need to 'low ball' a few times but the wonderful thing about ebay is there are always a few thousand more coins coming along right behind the one you didn't win. If you only want one it shouldn't take too long. Nasty fellows like Nero will always cost more but there are enough 'nice' guys to choose from. Trajan is a favorite as he is always the one mentioned when you see a map of Roman Empire at its greatest extent (under Trajan)
Rest in Peace

You could go to a local coin fair. They are frequent in England--especially London. Ask a local coin dealer when the next one in your neighborhood will be held. It could be as soon as Saturday.

What about this coin here:

£95 seems a high price for a small silver coin. Is that normal though?

DB...if you don't want to do ebay, go to vcoins and hit the "advanced search" botton...type in the amount you're willing to spend, and see what come back...you may see something you like!
