Hi All,

I am still in the midst of going through my second penny box and have already found alot to keep, but I will wait to post what I found till I'm done.

I did find though two 1969S and one 1972S thus far. They are in decent condition but is it worth keeping any S mint marks? I mean I have gone through 32 rolls and found only these 3 but I dont want to waste time and coin album space if not necessary. Thank you. JH

I keep all cents from before 1982, which includes all of the business strike S-mint coins.

The S mint mark carries the lowest mintage per year/mint. For example, the mintage for your 1969-S is 544,375,000, compared to the 1969-P, 1,136,910,000, and the 1969-D, 4,002,832,200. Your 1972-S mintage is 376,939,108, compared to the 1969-P, 2,933,255,000,and the 1972-D, 2,665,071,400.
