Customer came walking in and paid their bill with change and also used this '78 Ike. Came in a little plastic bag labeled Litteton Coin Co. at the bottom. Bag labeled at the top Eisenhower dollar CN Clad 1978-S Ch Proof-63 I was excited to buy this from my drawer. Best condition Ike I ever have seen

Nice pick up. Seems odd that someone paid with it. Especially with it still in the wrapper. I could understand if it was loose.

In the bag and everything? awesome. At least they were a thoughtful careless person for not opening it and getting it all greasy. lol

Maybe they knew you liked coins? If not, that is just bizarre in the wrapper and all.

I have seen Ike's come in before loose and bought them still. This person wasn't familiar with my hobby so I don't think that's why they brought it in.
I work as a clerk part time in a small cigarette shop and it amazes me what people will pay with. Not that I'm complaining!

Nice score. The other day a customer came in and pulled out a pocketof change to pay the exact amount and he had an Ike. I mentioned to him that I was at the bank the last weekend and some guy camein looking for Ikes. I pulled out and showed him my overstruck Peace dollar. He wasn't a collector but said he had carryied the coin around for luck.

I also had a customer come in pulled his change out to pay exact amount and I saw he had an Ike dollar. I said to him 'I see you have an Ike' and he looked at me in terror and quickly put all his coins back in his pocket and said I don't have the change (which he clearly did) I don't know why it scared him what I knew what he had but...

I almost miss having a cash register job for this reason. I pulled wheaties and buffaloes from the register and some silver (just went off sound back then.. Didn't know pre 1964 meant silver) and left everything else. I wish I knew what I know now back then!!

As requested here is the obverse of my '78. It is still in the plastic wrapper from Littleton, I am waiting to get a 2x2 flip to bust it out from the plastic. Any imperfections you see I assure is just the plastic. Looks much better in person.
