I have looked at these two coins from many angels and the more I look I am convinced the gap between the 3 and 5 at their tops , the one on the right has a wider gap. 2nd narrow 3 wider .Maybe its just me wishing again.

IF you can get your hands on a 59th edition Charlton Catalogue, at the back, you'll find variations on the 5 of the 1925 1-cent. I wonder if there are similarities with the 1935 cent?

Hmm, I see what you mean, CPC. But I think it may be the gunk on the left hand coin throwing a bit of a shadow effect though. I measured both images on my computer screen at various spots between the 3 and the 5 and the size of the 3 itself and found that they were equal. Assuming that you used the same magnification in blowing up your images to post, I would have to say that they are both the same. I have found field curvature variations in the KGV series though, which can appear to show differences in distances between the various devices and the rims, similar to what you can find in the KGV nickels.

When I was looking at the coins with 16 times magnification one 5 seemed slightly bent or not as straight as others . I kept thinking my eyes were playing tricks on me .I have noticed this on 6 coins so far .. Yes it might just be the build up .
Will look through the rest and see if any more show up .

Thanks pennysaver and spp-ottawa for your info .
