Yeah, I listed my 7070 on ebay. I have a few reasons for doing so, mainly just to pay for a surgery I need. it's very minor but will still cost a pretty penny. If I can sell this at a decent price then I may be quitting the hobby. I just don't have the funds to keep up, and I spend way too much time inside on the computer looking at coins and searching for deals. I'm 24 and in great shape, i'd like to explore the world more and spend money on outdoor activites or travel. and also focus more on my studies. anyways, I did list it pretty high, definitely more than I paid for all the coins. People usually lowball on best offer listings so I'm hoping to get decent offers if any. my question though, does this listing look ridiculously high priced to you, a little too high, or does it look like a decent deal? If you were browsing and saw the listing what would you think? just looking for some input. ebay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/14094766965....m1555.l2649*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Oh, also any advice on how to change my listing? And the bad part about posting this here is all of you will look at the listing. When I look at my ebay listing it will seem like I have a ton of viewers but it will mostly be you guys. lol.

I have really no idea on value - I don't collect US coins, but who do you think would be the potential buyer? Possibly not a collector (there is not much collecting involved in just buying everything in one go - so that leaves a dealer. And dealers are mainly interested in turning a profit. Have you thought about selling off the coins individually? Just a thought. Best of luck

You have a lot of very nice coins there, but it's nowhere near a complete set. I agree with Bacchus2 that selling the coins individually may be a better way of going about it.

I see nowhere near the asking price for the coins that are included. The book is just lots of empty holes where the true temptation to spend might be. If you are firm in your desire to depart the hobby, sell the pieces individually. You'll do the best that way. There is nothing in there that can't be replaced later on when the coin bug bites again.

I went through the same thing in my 20's. For about 10 years I did nothing but add the circulating coins out of my change. But I did go to Vegas,Cancun,Bahamas,LA,Miami,Phoenix, etc..etc.. One thing I was glad about is I kept what I had so when I was ready it was there. Had I sold it all I may have never started again. My point is only sell what you must to pay for your surgery because you will regret it later if it's all gone. As for the 7070 and the coins, I'm with mysilveryears, I don't see nearly what your starting price is unless there are some high MS coins in there. Could scare off some offers.

Agree, I doubt you'll sell this partial collection for anywhere near that price. Even if you figure $80 for the value of the album itself, you're still asking an average of ~$80 per coin.
I concur that you'll do much better selling each coin individually.

I remember 24. That was about the time when I "parked" my collection in a safe deposit box and didn't revisit them for over 20 years. If you can afford to do that, take a break from collecting and rediscover the hobby when it better fits into your life.
If you need a little bit of money, sell a few of them. I think you will do better individually anyways.
Good luck.

I agree with what most have posted. It's very high for what is there and if you want to maximize your return, selling them individually will be the way to go.

Did you keep the certification labels when you broke the coins out of the holders? If you did, you might mention that along with the possibility of selling coins individually. Good luck.

My ballpark insurance value for those coins would be around $1,500. The old coppers, and the Seated quarters might have some value, but the rest that you have in there, while being in great condition, are fairly easy holes to fill. I could see someone paying $1,000 and feeling good about their purchase. Where did you come up with the buy it now price?

thanks everyone for the info, I might try to list everything separately now.
As far as the buy it now price, I just made up a high number. already had someone offer $1000. My logic is that people always lowball, if I listed it at $1500 I'm sure I would get offers of like $700 or $600.

Selling things separately is seeming to work out nicely. I've already sold $1500 from this set and probably have another $1200 left to make. As a set everyone thought I was crazy with my price. But selling separately I'm getting more than I expected. :)
