Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I used to collect foreign coins and currency when I was a child. And now my son is interested in collecting. I have a coin I'm having trouble with. I'd like to find its value, but its difficult, considering it's foreign and double struck. I'm having trouble posting a pic, since I'm new to this and using my phone. So I'll give the description first. Silver, 1875, 5 Francs, double stamped. It's also holed, which I've read may or may not decrease the value.
Please feel free to email me and I'll be happy to send pics!

Hello and welcome.

Your coin, if it were not "holed" and "double stamped", would look like this, and be worth roughly what that website says it would be worth.

You should also be aware there are two different mintmarks for this coin, "A" and "K". The "K" one is listed here, and is considerably scarcer, though not that much more valuable.

Being "holed" will decrease the value; by how much will depend on how large the hole is, where it is placed, and the condition of the rest of the coin. But for relatively common coins such as these, any kind of hole is likely to see the value reduced to bullion value.

As for being "double stamped", we'd need to see pics to know exactly what you mean by that.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
