Found this in a 10-cent world coin bin. Research reveals that this is a somewhat scarce date (and the only year they were minted in brass) and is worth upwards of $5 in Fine condition. Does anyone have information about this coin? The closest source I got was in a Polish forum, and unfortunately Google Translate just isn't at that level yet. A rough grade would also be helpful but mostly I'm just looking for information.

I do not know for certain but the issue must have not been fully released for some reason. With a mintage of over 20 million there is no sound reason for the better grades to be so valuable. These are rather common in grades up to fine or so. I have picked them out of junk boxes too and never found one near VF.

Most are like yours Fine or so but with problems. Your coin has an incomplete rim (possibly due to a tapered planchet) but that usually means a final grade of VG tops.

from Krause Catalog:

2.0 grams, Brass, 17.6 mm
Obv: Crowned eagle with wings open
Rev: Stylized value

Mintage F VF XF Unc BU
20,500,000 3.50 12.50 22.50 125 150

That was the only year in brass.

If you would like to sell it on polish e-auction, you would get about 5-8 USD for this coin.
