I picked these up with some inflation notes and was wondering if they are real and how rare they are. I think the overprint is in arabic, but couldn't find out much more about them so far. any info would help and be greatly appreciated. thank you

The notes are real. The overprints are not. The Rosenberg catalog of German notes lists the serial number prefix letters for the overprinted notes.

Genuine overprints are extremely scarce. They are in Farsi for use in Persia during WWI.

Fake overprints on these notes and other German notes have been on the market since about 2009.

They're nice notes otherwise, shame someone went and ruined them with the fake overprint. They are essentially worthless, how much did you pay for them?

The correct series letter for the 100 mark is D and the 1000 mark is A. The overprint on the 1000 mark note should be blue not red.

Thanks for the info. I only paid $5 apiece for them. I figured it was worth the risk at that price.

Hi hawk1969,
The 100 Reichsmark Bill is one o f the most beautiful and interesting german bills. This Bill is known as Flottenhunderter.
It is the only bill where the emperor said what he wants to see on the Note. ( His new Fleet! )
The bill talks!
On the back you can see the Germania with sword and shield.
You also can see the new Imperial fleet.
You can see an mallet & anvil = craft
a gear wheel = industry
a package = trade
a plow = agriculture
The German Oak as the national symbol of strength and valor. Germania which protect the german empire.
This bill was a message, we are strong, we are heroes, and now we have a large fleet.
Take us seriously, the british empire is not longer the supremacy in Europe.
And now we also have a great power on the water.
In 1910 were troubled times in europe.
UK, Germany, France and Russia, all dynasties struggled for supremacy.
The rulers were mostly even blood relative...
As watermarks you can see Kaiser Wilhelm I. and the Number 100.
You have a very beautiful bill with a lot of history.
The overprints are Fakes.
$5 is a real good price.
( Sorry for my bad english! )
