I am coming into $1000 of loose change, mostly Lincoln cents. Should I seperate the 1981 and previous? If I do, what kind of price can I get for the coppers? I don't ebay and don't want that much money tied up too long. Looking for any advice. Thank you!

ebay is definitely something you should check into. If not, you could sell the copper lincolns on this forum when you get enough posts.

You could expect 2 or 3 cents for every copper penny on ebay, other than that itll all depend on the buyer

So just where were you planning on selling those Copper coins? And just what makes you think your going to have enough to make it worth any postage to send anywhere?

Not saying I couldn't get on ebay, but after checking ebay I'm only seeing about 1.5 above face. I'm looking at what had bids ver what some people are asking. I just don't know if its worth my time and tying up money that long. If I can't make money on it I'm not just interested in searching 10000+ coins just for a couple $4 WAM's. I'm about $200 searched and have found about 15 wheats, one 2000 WAM and a 1881 IHC that might not even make G.

Quote: If I can't make money on it I'm not just interested in searching 10000+ coins In all honesty I would say its not going to be worth your time if your just looking to make a good chunk of change. You could get lucky and find something special theres just not a lot of money to be made from it, if there was everyone would do it. The ebay market may have changed for them, I dont follow it closely or the price of copper for that matter. At some point buyers are going to start to dwindle as they get discourage from either the copper price, realizing they wont be able to melt them, or theyve just bought all they want.

Thank you for all your input. I'll find out today if the wife comes home from work with a couple hundred pounds of change. If she does ill search it. If not, oh well. So far I'm two silver dimes, 15 wheaties, one IHC and a WAM from what I have searched. I just want to break even with the costs of rolling it. 15¢ on the dollar at coin star , 5¢ at the bank. I can roll $1 for 1.5¢ so we will see what happens. Does anyone know if there are variations of the 1995 DDO? I found one with doubling on the first "t" in states. I don't know if I can get a picture that close. I had to look through my 15x to see it.

Well I would take all the 1983 cents out because if you have a copper that weighs 3.1 grams you have found yourself a valuable coin. The copper plated zinc will weigh 2.5 grams. Personally myself I would go through them for errors, but that is an awful lot of coins to go through. You not wanting to tie up your money that wouldn't be practicable . So you have to decide. Good Luck!

I have bought unsearched all copper cents in bank bags at 1.4 and paid shipping, but my supply source decided to take a break. If you are pre searching them and can just throw in a bankers bag I would bid 1.3 and pay shipping for all 1981 and earlier (or 1982 if you know how to weed out the zincolns). You need to provide in $100 increments for it to be worthwhile. I like to buy in $300 increments ($390 bid plus shipping).
Post something if you think it is worthwhile to get together.
