Is there a post that could sum everything up for a beginner? I'm the kind of collector that grabs his cell phone and clicks a photo. I need a "dummy" link. Something the admins can keep towards the top of this forum as a sticky, maybe?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Sorry, it's early...I might not have been that clear.

I do not have a link for that. It would be different for each camera/cell phone/USB microscope and model.
What camera/etc are you using? maybe someone else uses the same one

It doesn't exist, but it's doable. The information presented therein wouldn't really be applicable to a cell phone camera; some of those are pretty darn good (iPhone, I'm looking at you), but they're best left to make their own choices regarding how to shoot. The gist of the matter is, not all details of technique are similar between classes of camera, much less individual models. So a sticky tutorial would be as much about teaching the basic terminology and procedures of photography and those few details universally pertinent to shooting coins (solid mount, parallel coin/focal plane, delayed shutter, lighting), leaving you the person who owned the camera to run with that information and use it just as the guide to figuring out how your specific hardware works best.
