Appears to be struck through a die cap.

Thank you, pyrbob. That's kinda what I thought, too. But I had it listed on ebay, and another member, who is obviously much smarter than I am, admonished me and said that it was a Brockage error. What do you think?

This coin was struck by an early-stage, uniface die cap. In other words, the working face of the die cap never had any design on it. The absence of a ghost image of Lincoln demonstrates that the floor of the die cap was close to the original thickness of a cent.

The term "brockage" should only be used when incuse, mirror-image design elements can be detected.

Thank you, Mr. Diamond. With all due and sincere respect to the wonderful experts on this site, to say that I am overwhelmed by the fact that THE MIKE DIAMOND responded to a Post of mine, would, indeed, be an understatement! Wait til I tell all my friends!!
