Hi all, please find attached a photo of a coin I recently found (in the uk). I have done some quick google searching but cant find anything else like it and would like to find out a bit more about it. The writing on it says 1 11 PITT SHILLING and of course has the large number 1 on one side, the other side is very well worn and has green copper stain on it. Obviously I dont want to clean it until I find out more about it, if at all, so any info you could give me would be greatly received, thanks, Barry

Thanks for the welcome Rooneydog, thats fascinating thanks, so with tokens, presumably they printed the cost of the token on it so that if you give the fairground say one shilling, and they give you a token of that value and you know its of that value because it says on it one shilling so you know your not getting short changed or ripped off?
If thats correct, surely there would be a lot of people trying to pass off tokens as coins in everyday trade exchanges at their local shops etc., much like we return from foreign holidays with foreign loose change which no longer has much use out of its native country. Many thanks, Barry
