Wow, those are some nice pics.
Great idea about posting the coin on their Facebook page numismatist 2012!
I agree it's pricey but it has the chance to look great and be a first time technology. Maybe like the Glow in the Dark or the Glass Bugs?
Too bad there aren't any real teaser pics of it. If there were (and the coin looked great) and there was this big delay, the demand for these would be high I bet.

What delay? It's has begun shipping to people. I've seen a real life picture of it! Beautiful coin!

Here how it is looks like according to ebay seller:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IN-STOCK-20...em20d2167ee4

IMO, nothing special. I know that it not the sticker, but looks like.

Btw, seems to be the same seller, as with famous Penny Roll

My dealer said he received the dragonflies as well. Based on his description, it's worth seeing. I'll hopefully check them out on Monday

I just received mine, and they look great! The holographic background probably slowed down the production. Looks way better then in the RCM pictures!

You really have to see them in real life to see the holographic background. Even the above link to the ebay posting does not look as good as it does in real life.

I'll be adding some to my site now today.

@ machaj would you say it's worth the $80 price tag?

@Solidifier It is the first in the series. If the Mint makes more in the series than I would say having more than one would be a good idea. $80 for 1/2 ounce is high but cheaper than the Bee and Hive

I bought three with the intention of keeping them.

Well, I am encouraged to hear this. The Mint has a notice of product delay for it, saying July, but the same notice is also saying August/early September for the glass butterfly on coneflower and obviously that's incorrect. My own dragonfly order is still only "processing" but I am not surprised they have sent out the dealers shipments first. Maybe next week my order will be upgraded to "shipped"! (I can dream, can't I?)

I picked up my dragonfly from my dealer today.

The dragonfly is static, but the holographic effect is in the water. When you tilt it at various angles, it looks like the water is shimmering and sparkling. Different angles yield different colours like purples, blues, greens, and pinks. I actually think it's a really nice coin, much nicer when it's not obscured by the coin capsule's plastic top.

I tried to snap a few pictures at various angles to illustrate the effect if anybody is on the fence about it. I apologize for the big block of green in various photos. It's the tshirt I'm wearing that's reflected in the coin.

Innovative!

Thanks for sharing, cookiecutter

I think, it nice that there is variety of coins types, and each collector will decide, what exactly he / she likes and need in the collection.
