It's anybody guess when it will be released. I wouldn't be surprised if you find it at Canada Post anytime.

Well hopefully it's soon. Weird how they listed them on the mint website so early.

My guess is there were some severe production problems--technical difficulties--that they (surprise, surprise) weren't expecting. LOL

Even with all these delays you would think someone would have an actual picture.

It's nothing they haven't done before. I don't see why they would have it delayed so much.
It would be more understand if it was a glow in the dark fire fly, on a $20 silver coin.. :P
Cheers, Tomasz

Maybe with the significant increase in the # of coins they haven't adequately ramped up their production facility capacity yet?

I think its coming out in July, just in time for the Dragonfly Society of the Americas 2013 Annual Meeting in Saskatchewan http://www.sspb.ca/DSA2013/Welcome_1.html may be someone should post a notice of this coin on their facebook page : )

I can't believe there's a dragonfly society. I really thought you were making that up.

hahaha, I know, I couldn't believe it myself either. But in addition to the Dragonfly Society of the Americas, apparently there is the British Dragonfly Society, Dragonfly Society of the British Isles, Indonesia Dragonfly Society, and Worldwide Dragonfly Association (to name just a few !) - I kid you not :)

I know three or four people who are really into dragonflies, and there are actually a few field guides to dragonflies, similar to bird guides out there. (Nowhere near as many, of course.) Some of them are quite striking and I can certainly see a few more coins featuring a few additional species if the 12-spotted skimmer does well. How about a green darner dragonfly on a purple coneflower? I kid you not: http://www.beautifulwildlifegarden....-liatris.jpgOr if red is more your preference, how about a cardinal meadowhawk? http://bugguide.net/node/view/677543/bgimageThe potential for a great series, except wayyyyyy too pricey for me!

I agree, it IS crazy pricey for just half an ounce of silver, but if its done well perhaps this series will take off over time, much like the bird series...although my personal preference would be to have a more realistic (detailed) rendition of the dragonfly , which might appeal more to the dragonfly society folks and naturalists groups...
