I was looking at this 1855-o $1 gold:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1855-O-Type...190820446627

the seller states, "Absolutely no retouching, game playing, lighting tricks or unethical nonsense".
Funny, the guy he bought it from says and pictures the coin much differently:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1855-O-G-1-...350706711218

His pictures clearly show a solder spot and he says, "There is a silver like spot on the obverse in the field and it is a light silver color. It may have been solder that was applied"

Wow... talk about a phony sale job. I find it amazing that the seller has 5639 sales and a 100% rating. This is one more reason I'm disgusted with ebay...

same guy bought a 1795 half dollar from me I clearly described as having been repaired-the obverse fields had been smoothed.this was info I got from the listing and holder it was in when I bought it.he relisted it with no mention and in fact wrote it off as die related.sold for a 300 profit.I'm all for makin money but I wont stoop to that in coin tradin or any other aspect of my life to make a buck

Just wondering how you know that the buyer and seller are the same person. It's obviously the same coin, but the buyer's feedback and seller's feedback scores are different, so they're not the same account. Did you see this listing and remember the previous sale from two months ago?

Actually, this seller listed this coin a while back, just after he purchased it. He shill bid the coin, but, didn't get enough for it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1855-O-Type...380603400176

Many sellers have multiple ID's so others can't see their buying/selling activity. Shiller's make their biddings 'private' to hide their shilling:

I have a somewhat eidetic memory, when it comes to rare coins.

Is this a violation of ebay's policies? I mean, it's clearly deceptive.

We'll find out. Now you see one of the main reasons why "private" sales on ebay get such cold looks from people like me; it enabled his shill bidding.
