ok... mainly I am talking about the 1956 proof set with a type 1 franklin in it... Why is there not a premium for it? The small date from 60 and 70 get a premium. Aside from the fact there is no premium, why is there not even a mention in the price guides that there is 2 "different" proof sets for that year? How does the 1960 small date proof set warrant mention and the type 1 Franklin proof set from 1956 not? help me out...

Halves aren't my thing & wasn't even aware of thr Ty1. It wasn't until I saw a completed auction where just the half alone went for 400+. Just how scarce are these things?

Not as scarce as you would think. I believe I read somewhere that 1 of 20 sets contained a type 1 Franklin.

Probably a combination of it not being as rare as you think like you said, a lot of people just not knowing about them, and lack of demand I would imagine

Don't know where you've been looking, but there is a slight premium on the T-1s and if they are cameo or deep cameo, a significant premium. I'm still looking for one T-1 to finish my son's birthday present.

The individual coin does have a premium but the proof set with a type one doesn't seem to. I just think it is a sleeper.... Now if it ever wakes up, I do not know

It's to our advantage that the proof set still a sleeper.... more chance for you to cherry pick. Any dealers when looking at the price guide and see the price increase will take a second look at their set to make sure they are not the variety/top dollar set.....

Btw, I agree with baseball21

Because there are a LOT more cent collectors out there that want those small dates, than there are Franklin half collectors. And most of those cent collectors want those varieties, only a portion of the Franklin collectors are interested in the type I and II 56 proofs. Supply and demand rule.
