Compare these two obverses.
The A of GRATIA fits into the notch of the top knot--this is normal.
The second photo shows a miss-placed A.
What is going on here?

Not error nor variety.
Optical delusion IMO.The result of apoor pic through two layers of plastic.
The position of the A does not change relative to the denticles.
If Vicky has moved then you've really found something interesting.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Ahhh--Yes-- I see it now.
The top photo shows a notch , but there is none-- the dark tarnish on the field gives an impression of other hair strand where none exists.
The other photo is bad.
I have been fooled for a long time about that notch which does not exist!!!
