Hello,

I want to buy some North Korea proof coins. are there a lot of counterfeits out there? I ask because they are pretty cheap on ebay and all come from china. they might be cheap because they are brass and I'm not used to seeing the prices of bass coins. and I understand why they come from China as they share a border and are trading partners and big contributors to their tourism.

do you think i'd be safe buying these ebay auctions? an example being the Lunar series is $39.99 on ebay.

From what I understand, ebay are currently blocking sales of all North Korean items.

Personally, I think this ebay policy, if true is a bad policy. The aim of any sanction is to cause hardship for the people in the hopes that this will cause its leaders to change some policy/policies. But if someone has, in the past, purchased coins from a country that they did and do not live in and today is being sanctioned, preventing this person from selling that country's coins won't necessarily or meaningfully cause any hardship to the sanctioned country. It's a bad policy in my opinion and ebay ought to revoke it.
