considered a you S commemorative silver dollar? It was minted in Philadelphia, and it came in a 2 coin set with the you S Ericson silver dollar.

When I type "U" it prints "you". Weird.

I believe it was made at the US mint for Iceland. I have the coin set and it is actually pretty cool.

Is the 2000 Leif Ericson Iceland Kronur considered a US commemorative silver dollar?

No. Though Iceland's 1000 Kronor coin was struck by the US Mint as part of a joint US-Iceland commemorative program, it is only a legal tender coin of Iceland.

The two-piece set produced by the US Mint is definitely attractive and one that deserves a place in the collection of anyone who is working on a set of modern US commemoratives.

The set marked the first time since 1938 that the US and another country issued joint commemoratives for the same event via a coordinated program. In 1938, the US and Sweden each issued a commemorative coin to mark the tercentenary of the founding of Delaware (New Sweden); each country struck its own coin, but they were promoted together.

Thank you commems. I just bought the two-piece proof set so wondered about it. So it is not needed for a modern you S commemorative collection.
Now looking for the uncirculated!

There's that "you" again for "U".

I picked up a nice uncirculated this week. It seems they have dropped a little with the decline in silver values.

You know what is dumb is listing these as "Silver" and then listing them at 4 times the value of the silver content like you are getting a bargain on silver by buying these coins. (my 2 cent rant)
