What do you think? A clipped planchet or postmint damage?

Thanks!

That is a incomplete planchet. Nice find. I've seen many from that year posted here before.

Notice the metal flow on IN and G. That's a great indicator of an authentic clip. Is there also a smaller clip above the R of TRUST? As to the rarity, I too would agree that the 1944s are very common, if not the most common Wheat cent to find with a clip. Common being a relative term.

I thank you for your responses. Though it is common I'm excited as it is the first error of this kind that I have found and it came from pocket change!

ErrorCoins222, the area above the R is most definitely PMD. It appears to be a crushing injury...

Thanks Again!

Could you get a closer picture of the area above the R? Everything looks right about it from the photos. A lot of clips are so small that it may seem like there isn't any missing metal when in actuality the clip was just that minuscule.

I'll see what I can do when I get out of work in the morning. My photography equipment isn't the best right now.

Thanks
