As a Canadian coin collector, I knew that the penny was going out of circulation so I went to the bank and purchased lots of pennies o search through for copper (pre 1996). I did not decide to keep any of the post 1996 dated coins as there were millions minted and the chance of increasing in value was slim. I was wondering if anyone kept all of the pennies? I ask because I found someone on Kijiji willing to pay more than FV for all the dates! http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-...IdZ453856253P.s. This ad is not the only one that I have found.

Hi inventor
Yes, I kept them all, because I am an error and variety collector. Dates right up to and including 2012 have several different varieties and errors, so it made sense for me to save them all, at least until I search them thoroughly. I bought a good number of boxes and now am going through them a few rolls a day, checking them out for anything different. The crap ones I cull out and will probably take back to the bank. The rest I'll keep for now.

I keep all Canadian pennies I find, currently working on a complete 1920-2012 collection with varieties. I have about 4000 copper saved (rough estimate) and maybe a lil' less post 1996. I did pick-up a nice BU 1967 from the bank yesterday...made my day. Being in the states just south of the border I find quite a few. I personally love the Canadian cent vs. the Lincoln Memorial cent, but the Wheat trumps 'em all.

I wish I could find someone who had a bunch of 1996 and up Canadian cents to spare. I need most of them to complete my Canadian small cent collection but in Texas, Canadian cents are few and far between. Seems like for some reason, those are the hardest for me to find.

I've got a jar full of hoarded pennies. I've already picked out the very best ones but there'll definitely be good recent ones in there all the way to 2012.

I'd send you an email but your account is not set up for accepting them. If you'd like to sell some extras, please email me. I have a list of what I have and what I need.

Yes, I kept all the Canadian pennies I found, but only because I didn't know the cut off date for shift from copper. I just have them in a separate container awaiting further review.

wow. I guess I should have got more boxes back in January. I picked up 6 but just kept the US wheats, old Canadian <1960ish, and any shiny 2012s. If you're really nice to the tellers, they may still give you some even though they're not supposed to (but nobody likes to fill out the paperwork to send things back).

I keep every Canadian penny I find. Hoping that I'll eventually be able to have a complete date set of the Canadian small cent. I do wish I could have made it up to Canada before they stopped giving them at banks so I could have bought a box or two, though.
