Lucius-Verus-Ae-As.

Lucius Verus AE As.

OBV: IMP CAES L AVREL VERVS AVG â€" Bust right.

REV: CONCORD AVGVSTOR TR P II - Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus standing with clasped hands.

REF: RIC 1314

I will fine-tune the attribution later on once I get the coin. It could be right or wrong but I'll let you guys decide first before I start working on it.

I reserved a couple of coins and if you guys want a preview I can show you. One of them I really like.

Now that I do really like. Would that be something you would clean more or would you leave it be?

I'm learning more towards not cleaning it because it looks like it has rough and worn surfaces rather than dirt that can be removed to expose more details. I will know for sure once I receive it.

I have about 40 or so ancients in about this level of condition. All fully attributed.
I usually get them out a dealer's higher priced junk boxes.

Mostly, I get to full attribution within a couple of days, but not always. With the harder ones, I just keep gnawing at them until get to that final "eureka!" moment. The hardest one was a Roman colonial which took me almost a year.
This is when the employment of patience is great fun!

I disagree, with that pointed nose, along with the reverse type I think it is indeed Lucius Verus.

A quick glance at the Wildwinds photos. I find 4 Verus Concord Asses and Dupondii. 3 of the 4 have a break in the obv. legend. I find 6 Marcus Concord reverses and 6 of 6 have no break in obv. legend. Combined with the 'modest' positioning of the bust (slightly tilted forward)I still go with Marcus. Verus had a streak of pride a mile wide and it shows in his portraits. The jaw is jutted forward and the head tilted back slightly. He looks unbearably arrogant. I don't see that arrogance in this coin. I see Marcus
