I am not 100 percent on the laws over the pond but the first thing that strikes a cord is that you are not on any land. Your shoes are, but physically you are not. I am all for detecting any land, owned or not. If any governing body doesn't like it tough. Its high time they realised that people like us, the metdets of the World, provide 99 percent of the history to the new age World and as such should be given more freedom to hunt, not less.
As a side note, I am more than happy to provide helpful ways around the law in order to search your desired land. Might be best to inbox me on that though.
You will never soar like an eagle if you hang around with turkeys.....
