I found this 1985 P dime in my change and noticed a funny blob on top of Roosevelt's head. I knew very little about error coins before I poked around online and was surprised to discover that things that look like this might actually be minting errors. I'm curious what other people think. Could it be a Cud? Or maybe a soldering job or some other kind of PMD? I did my best with the pictures. Are there other known examples of error dimes of this year. There is a "weakness" on the reverse in the corresponding area, but the material does not appear to be as raised as other examples I have read about.
Thanks.

Definitely the real deal, Congrats on a great find. I see a lot of Cuds on Lincolns and nickels but not a lot on dimes. Not sure why that is.

yup that there is a Cud. if you look at the reverse at the same spot you can see the weak strike at the "IME" of DIME.

Its tougher to find Cuds on dimes than many other issues because the dies are smaller which means theirs less area on them to break.

Thanks for the responses and the info! This very nearly ended up in the bank coin sorting machine. The local coin shop would not have given me $.15 for it (not that I was trying to sell it). It must be that 99.9% of the population doesn't notice this sort of minor anomoly. Collectors of error coins must be few and far between.
