Just picked this up in Singapore 110 SGD and NGC MS65 recently sold for 525SGD so a very decent buy.

A very nice rupee indeed! Nicely struck up as well. The base metal coins in India at this date had to take up all of the circulation load, and the silver was quite often used as a store of wealth by the population. A rupee represented a great deal of spending power in 1918, in India.
However, I don't see how it got MS65, with those minor marks in the field on the obverse. Perhaps MS63 or 4. Slightly off centre reverse, but that is OK. Pricewise, I still think that you are out in front, anyway.

Yes, I saw the contact marks and when I read the description better it said NNC MS65....so asked to cancel my bid as not heard of NNC but they said it was typo and was NGC. So, it is what it is and I have had stunning coins kicked in the guts by NGC in the past, so happy with what I got.

NNC = the ebay self-slabber from Florida who did a HUGE run of Indian rupees a few years back... He is NOTORIOUS for grade silliness, cleaned/impaired piece with moon grades, etc. Not clear from your post whether you have the coin in hand yet to verify whether it is "NGC" or "NNC"...

Throw it back if it's NNC--those are usually impaired coins.

The auction house lied to me. They sent me an e-mail saying the NNC descriptor was a typo and it was NGC. Coin arrived today in a pathetic NNC holder.....as it would cost a great deal of time and money getting the coin back to Singapore from the UK I just popped it out of the non secure holder and sent it to NGC with two high value coins that had to go there anyway. So do not trust NUMISMATIC SOCIETY ASIA...a blatant lie
Numismatic Society (Asia) Dear Dr. Salisbury: There is actually a typo error, it is NGC MS 65. I have amended it already. So, no worries, still NGC certified and a nice coin.Best Regards,

Bought a whole group of early silver Rupees.....for £100...10 or so....sent some to NCS as they had black gunk on them, then NGC and got crappy results. Unc coin sent to ANACS, three held back and got these poor results but considering the price I might still be OK.
