I'd say most likely not, and probably a die break. A die break that bisects the coin is relatively rare on all series and should demand a premium. However, I've seen lamination bisect the coin almost exactly like a die crack. But the crack isn't obvious in the hair, which is recessed into the die the deepest. I'd say a die crack.

that it is probably a crack (though there is one area around the D in united that does give me pause}. However die cracks for this series are common. It was the first time the mint was using this alloy and it was tougher on the dies. You will also see some very serious die cracks in the Shield nickels as well (ThisIsFun picked up a great one not too long ago). Clashes are also very common in the early years as well as Longacre doubling.

Edit: my avatar is my favorite 3cn I have and shows a wonderful lamination.

I'm going to be the contrarian here and say that I believe it is a lamination.

I'm going to agree. If the "crack" is deep enough to run through the neck, and is still strong into the lettering, it should also run through the chin. Far more likely to be a lamination.

Hmmm.. OK, at least it is certainly something to hold on to . Keeping it anyways for my type set.
