I found a re-punched date on one of my Liberty nickels. Looking through a few books, I have come across something that is just confusing.

I have a 1883 With Cents Liberty the error is listed as

FS-13.7 in " Cherry Pickers Guide"

RPD-009 in "Treasuring hunting liberty head nickels"

PM-20.3 in "Complete guide to shield and Liberty nickels"

My confusion is in the first two books "Cherry pickers" and "Treasure hunting" it is listed as a NO CENTS variety.

In the 3rd book (Complete Guide...) It is listed as a WITH CENTS variety.

So I know the 3rd book is correct for my coin since it is a With Cents variety, but all those numbers are cross referenced in each others books. I can't see it as being a typo in the first two books, one I could see but not both.

So what would be the chances that both vanities have the same RPD?

Is there a chance, however remote, that they used the same die on two different reverses?

Or did they just screw up?

Errors in the picker's guide abound. I stopped using them a couple of years ago, to be honest. Looks more like a die crack, but this isn't my series and it is impossible for me to tell from the photos. Perhaps some other awesome CC members can help.

True that is what is listed, but in "the complete guide to shield and Liberty nickels" it is listed as a with cents variety but it cross references to the cherry pickers number for the no cents

Cherry Pickers: FS-1883-1301 (FS-013.7)
Peters/Mohon: PM-20.3 (listed as a with cents in book)
Flynn/Van Note: FV-RPD-009

Under good 10x magnification it doesn't resemble a die crack.

Trying to get a better picture but I don't think my camera will get a much better picture than I already have but I am going to try.

PS
If you check out Libertynickels.org under the varieties tab, Coin # 122 is one of my coins that I sent him a picture of.

I can verify the Peters Mohon book is listed as With Cents PM-20.3 book in hand, don't have the others though. There is also a matching photograph on page 199 to your coin (With Cents).
