Three weeks ago,
a war medals researcher showed me some details relating to another branch member of my family who served at Gallipoli.
Sadly, for a very short period, just for one day only
On the 25th April, in fact.
He was hit by an artillery shell as he was coming ashore. His body tag was separated from his remains.
His body tag was returned after the war, they still have it.
He is commemorated at the Lone Pine Sanctuary, which is on the ridge that overlooks the landing site.
On the other side of my family, my grandfather's brother was killed on the 10th of November 1918, the day before the Armistice was signed, while serving in the British Army.
Lest we forget.
I remember them.
