Certainly looks UNC, a few nicks on the Obverse, cheek, eyebrow and scratch in the field. A few small nicks on the Reverse as well, I guesstimate MS-63. BV $2.00 ... I would not spend money grading this coin ...

We're talking about a nickle 50c piece here ..right..?
It's not close to a gem so not at all collectable..to me that is...

To me the BV would be 50c..so please,...Just spend it...

Every coin is a collectable, its his coin.. Dont spend it , they dont make them anymore. Yeah there is not much premium on these coins but its not right to bash somebodys coin and tell them to spend it. other than that

Au 50 is my grade on this

jkb1015...I also would grade your coin AU. Nice luster but a few marks to many for MS. Thanks for sharing and no need to spend it.

It's poor forum form dude to tell them to spend there coin.Probably a young collector and we all started somewhere.

I agree with AU.
I totally disagree with "spend it"
I have a collection of these coins from 1937 through to 2013, with all dates represented.
I also have quite a few spares that I would never part with.
These are superb coins and it just goes to show you have great taste collecting them

From the amount of tiny nicks and scratches sustained by this coin, it is easy to say it has been in circulation.
Nevertheless because nickel is relatively hard, the coin has sustained only very little wear, which is hard to find on the pictures.

AU has to be the grade. Perhaps for an 'AU' Number? I'll say
"55".

Looks like it was removed from a set and mishandled since.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Definitely not a proof-like strike. There is no evidence of wear on the high points, and your coin is fully struck. The 'nicks' you see in the Queen, are typical of early pure nickel strikes, the metal just does not flow smoothly into the devices (look at a nickel dollar in any proof-like set from 1968-1972 to see those same nicks).

Your coin looks to be MS-63. Still, it is only worth between face value and $1.

The face sure looks a lot rougher than mine, so I'd have to really question a MS 63 rating.
