For those of you that dig every signal, what oddities have you found? There's a lot of clad and jewelery posted here, but the stories I always find the most interesting are those of the crazy rusted-out junk found far from its original home. Here's my bizarre find story:

My house was built about ten years ago in the middle of a forested acreage lot, cleared for the first time by the builders. I can only sigh and shake my head when I hear stories of IHCs or even large cents found in people's yards - the land I live on has never even had a farmer's field on it, just tough parkland bush and scrub. So my hopes were low for my backyard - definitely no change, maybe a few rusty nails from construction, and some garbage from the squatter who reportedly lived on the property for a couple months before construction began. But the snow was finally (almost) gone, so I thought I might as well practice with my brand-new detector. I was out for about a minute when I found a shallow signal, and dug for it, hoping it wasn't the septic tank line that I was pretty sure was in a different part of the yard. Soon I lifted out a brick-sized lump of rust. I found something! After a scrub in one of the few remaining snowbanks, the dirt and rust were peeled back enough to make out a square depression in the middle of the object, along with what might have been a couple knobs and some still-moving springs. Turns out it was an old portable cassette player! I'm still wondering how it got buried in my yard.

Yes. I was pretty sure it was from there, but I was secretly hoping that the squatter dropped it.

I found a 5 1/2 inch diameter very rusted circular saw blade in my back yard. At my girlfriend's house I found a handle to an aluminum softball bat.

Found a mood ring in the same yard - I dimly remember losing it when I was but a wee lad. All the mood juice has leaked out and it's not silver but hey, it's jewelery!

I've found ax heads, old rusted out tin cans with powdered food in them, horse bits, horse shoes, old childrens toys, a portable ash try, small nails like they used to use in shoe soles, a jack from a Model A Ford (still working with a bit of cleaning), old (and new) spent brass, belt buckles, chains, old buttons.
