These are getting more absurd everyday.
Im waiting for someone to just tape a gold bar to the end and call it an error roll

O Look! An "unsearched" roll of cents that contains a gold piece! This stuff never ceases to amaze me, and the Bad Word Filter prevents me from sharing my true opinion. Somebody just threw $800 at a $200 gold coin and 49 cents worth of cull Lincs. I don't know if I'm more irked by the obvious contempt these sellers show for their customers, or the fact that their customers deserve it.

Could be Indian heads instead of links. Could be a roll of gold. I'm not the winning bidder!

I think I came across this dealer a week or two ago and he had a bunch of these listed.

This seller had eight of these rolls listed with gold coins. A lot of his other rolls had 1909 S VDBs and 1931 S. Must be the luckiest person in the world to find all these rarities! Can't ebay do something about this?

I wonder if that gold coin might have been a jewelry piece; perhaps even, having a damaged rim or, worse yet, solder on the reverse? It might be educational to read the feedback on this roll.

His feedback is nearly perfect. I don't get it. One one hand I'm mad that he can get away with this. On the other hand I'm a bit impressed. I think he's actually making a living off this. Probably even has repeat customers.
edit: LOL, "mad" isn't what I exactly said. Guess the filter substituted it. Let's call it mad++.

The seller makes these rolls. If the coin on the end is a VDB, he rubber stamps the roll with a San Fransisco bank name to make buyers think there's a good chance of an S mint mark. When he puts a 1916 dime on the end, he stamps it with a Denver bank name. He's very creative. Looks like he brushes the roll with a wire brush to raise up fibers to make them look old.

I always like this part - "unsearched, and unopened by me". So someone else made the rolls for him. What a joke!

I had completely forgotten about these on ebay. This is such a complete hoot!! We actually have 2 five gallon buckets of wheats that my grandfather had saved from the 40's to 60's and I can honestly say on ALL of them there were very few "keys". Maybe I'll start rolling my wheats and put 2006w Roosevelt dimes on one end, maybe start a new trend, LOL. I know I bought an "unsearched" roll a few years ago for $8 just to see, and of course was '40's with one steel cent thrown in. I'm completely stunned that people shot up this auction to that amount! OldSkool, what you wrote is some good information and just goes to show what some of these sellers will do.
