The Hutt River Province is in Western Australia and it seceded from the state in 1970, although it is not recognised by any other jurisdictions. It is a farm, the owner of which disagreed strongly with the then state government and seceded accordingly, as you do. It is situated north of Geraldton, between Northampton and Kalbarri. Northampton is the closest official Post Office.

Julian, thanks for showing those notes.
Here's some HRP history you might like to see.

It's nice that "Prince" Leonard lives in a stable democracy that puts up with this sort of nonsense. I wonder if he'd have tried it if he lived in the Middle East or in certain SE Asian countries that are slightly less tolerant of citizens who call their government's authority into question.

I do enjoy the HRP threads that tend to pop up every few weeks.
I just had a thought.

At moment I've got a HSC English class - the text we're currently studying is The Castle.
-- In this film we cheer for the underdog to assert his rights over 'his' property, despite the conflicting interests of the different levels of government.

- Could we view HRP as the original version of what I think is, one of Australia's best films?

Just food for thought.
