Just a quick question, looking for speculative answers.

When the ATO 20 cent PNC's were released (first numbered release) I stockpiled as many as I could. I suppose you'd call it a gamble as their price was trending up and being the first number release I thought that was quite attractive.

I think I have 30-35 of them, many with consecutive numbers. Seems to be gamble hasn't paid off. What would you guys do with them? Average price I paid, including postage, would be around $26-27. Anyone thinking they might make a dash towards the $40 mark any time soon?

(The annoying thing is, I let so many of the 1861/1861 Melbourne Cup PNC's go buy, and their price has gone whoosh! and I'm sitting with only 1 of them!!)

Hi CoinManTim,

From what is happening over the last few months on ebay the price for the ATO PNCs seems to be trending downwards to around $20. They averaged about $27 last year. A couple were sold for $9.80 each (incl postage) last month.

The market for ordinary PNCs seems to be depressed at the moment. However, if you hold overprinted versions of PNCs (eg the Melbourne Cup) these still seem to be attracting very solid prices.

Looks like a "hold" for the time being hoping that the market for them picks up.

I don't think the ATO PNC's were the first to be numbered.

I have some Ashes PNC's from 2007 that are numbered. Total made was 8000.

Don't know if any others prior to 2007 were numbered though.

PNC'รง went thru. a boom 5-6 years ago on ebay but lately buyers have seemed to loose interest in all except the rarest issues, demand may bounce back in the future but still a iffy investment,IMO,compared to Gold/Silver Coins etc.

thanks all; might try list a few in july - even if it's buy it now for $30, might be able to sell a few to recover money - ebay always picks up after tax time.
