EWWWWW, nooo, do not get anything gold plated ever in your life. You will regret it later. Quality is terrible and doesn't look or feel as good as the solid McCoy. Just...eww.

To FatFreddy and ProfLiz:
Don't settle for a generic bezel. They, to me, are just pumped in mass. This guy, http://marklorendesigns.com/antiques.html#a22
he does the coin justice. As much as I cringe when I see coin jewelry (cough*etsy*coughcough) this one guy is pretty good about it. most coin jewelry is a simple piercing or a crappy bezel, but this guy puts some class into it. And he doesn't polish the coin. Plus! You know it's custom when you see a cob and not some random generic round in a random generic bezel. No offense, Fat Freddy.

Thanks people, Cowboy you made me think.
Love coin might be ok, but I think she wants it just to have a nice piece of gold.
She has a nuget or two, but she wants a coin.
Thinking more 1/4 now.
Also went by my local pawn shop today and he says he can get me a 1/10 or 1/4 at spot, but still this scares me.

Years ago I bought gold and diamond rings from the pawn shops, at great prices, no more.

Libertad---Good reference on Mark Loren. He looks like the real thing.

I've used Flintski bezels to make Xmas tree ornaments out of 1oz Xmas silver art bars and rounds, so my standards for bezels haven't been what I'd call very
exacting so far. Flintski has been great for the purposes I've used their stuff for so far, but the Mark Loren stuff is definitely on a more professional artistic level.

Libertad- Great link, awesome jewelry. Except for my love tokens, I don't have any coin jewelry, but his work makes me think twice...

Hi cuzzx
I understand your wife wants a coin but maybe just maybe you
could change her mind once she lays her eyes on this beauty.
I dug up this nice 5 grams gold pendant made by PAMP suisse
I purchased a while back. APMEX sells them but they've been
out of stock for ever and ebay currently doesn't have any in gold.
Good luck

Thanks guys and ladies, she has all kinds of gold jewelry.
Last night we sat down and talked, I ask her why she wanted a gold coin.
After a short talk she said she had rather have a new stove. Go figure.
So I'm getting her a new stove and going to pick up a 1/10 ounce coin.
Again thanks all.

Yea she has a sister, but the sister is not gold and jewelry even though she needs a stove also.

Thats the way my wife has always been, something to clean or cook with over jewelry.

But I will get her both, Mothers Day and shes worth it, 34 years together.

But again, thanks to all with your input.

I just came across this thread and read the entire thing. I really like the idea of the love token
However, when I got to the end and read the revised request for a stove, I just about died laughing. It just seems wrong....... Stove, or gold... hmmmmmmm

I guess the best option is both
