Saw two halves in the teller's tray today. Asked to buy them. One is a 1966. Yay!

I always ask bank tellers if they have any loose halves available. Most of the time when they do have them, they are 1971 and later and well used. I take them anyway and just spend them when I can. Last week a teller said she had just gotten 4 in and, of course, I took them. All were 40% silver: 1 - 1965, 1 - 1966, 1 - 1967, & 1 - 1969. The 1966 is Ch AU and the rest are lightly circulated. Makes my day/week with finds like that. Apparently there are some 40% silver ones are still out there.

I found a nicely circulated 90% from a teller the same way a few weeks ago!

I go to random banks and ask for any halves they have. Found a 1966 and a 1970 last week just by buying the loose halves the tellers have! Still haven't bought a box of halves yet, but I feel it'll be coming soon as the CRH bug has bitten me.

Congrats, they are getting harder to find. It seems like only a few years ago, teller trays were full of 40%, (and a few 90%).
