I bought a silver maine quarter ng pr69 for 9$ on the bay the holder was damaged. It didnt look bad but when I got it the quarter was crooked in the holder and it looked as if someone glued the holder back together. Needless to say I cracked it open the coin was silver and now I feel like an idiot. Would you have done the same or did I overreact? Sorry for the run ons I'm on my mobile

Well for $9 you didn't really lose that much. And you learned a lesson. Next time if your buying on ebay make sure the sellers pictures are clear and that if anything looks suspicious about the coin think twice before pulling the trigger.

If the coin was not as described (damaged holder) you could have gotten your money back through ebay buyer protection.

Since you opened / tampered further with the holder now you own it.

Lesson learned.

If you are not happy with a purchase for whatever reason (damaged slab, cleaned, etc) it will always bother you every time you look at the coin.

I bought a ngc el yunque pr70 on ebay and it was crooked in the holder when I got it. Idk why I didnt ask for a refund or something in retrospect. Drives me nuts.

I would just put the quarter inside a 2x2 flip and write down the grade. Because NGC had it down for you.

Complain to the TPG that slabbed it, the seller has no control over the orientation of a coin in a holder. I would be irritated if someone wanted to return a coin for rotation in a holder, something that has no effect on the coin or its value

I would agree, unless it was pictured or described as straight on the ebay listing and it was not when the package arrived.

Well, it's unfortunate that the coin appeared damaged. Wish you had been more careful and noticed the damage before proceeding further. Did you speak about the possibilities of return in the initial conversation you had from the buyer? And if you can't then feel good that you got a silver maine quarter for $9 :)
