Here is a Half penny from The Isle of Man (Im not sure if this is in the correct category). Can somebody grade it from the pictures and give me a rough estimate of whats it worth? Thanks John
There's a good following for IOM coins, particularly of this era, but they're not gettng the prices they used to. On ebay at least. My estimate around £6.50, although Geoff's perfectly correct, it's worth more.
How does that fit in with what you thought? There are a lot of very low grade coins on E Bay, I would not touch. I only look for higher grades as they do tend to hold price better. I do have an 1813 halfpenny which I paid £7 for it is a good fine. That was when I was just starting again, and I can get better grades, I am adding others first,
I've become a buyer of IOM rather than a seller on ebay as I'm finding that my better coins are usually only achieving 75-80% of what I'd expect. That said, my last decent offering was over a year ago. I still put the culls on ebay though and conversely they do OK.
Now this is going to be interesting. Seems that I've got two IOM culls up for sale this week, but at the wrong price. They should have free P&P but I've used the wrong template in a hurry. So they're overpriced by about 100%. Rather than edit the listings I'll let them be and see what happens.
