Hi, I recently found in a bag of mixed coins that I've had for years a half penny that seems weird to me.

On all the pictures that I've seen of this coins on the internet, the coin look like it is made of copper, but mine look like it's made of something else. It is very shinny and non-magnetic.

1920-Half-Penny-Question

Is it normal? Is my coin special? Was there different composition for that years?

Sébastien,
the coin appears to have been harshly cleaned at some point or another, I can't tell if it's been plated with silver or platinum, but if it has it certainly doesn't add any value to the coin. Personally, I think that the color you are seeing is the un-natural sheen of a coin that's been polished absurdly. But due to the hole, it might have been plated and used as a necklace or other jewelry. Either way, I wouldn't think it would fetch more than a dollar. Hope it helps

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I am slightly disappointed but better luck next time.

I hope the person who did that to this coin was happy about it.
