what is more likely to get some silvers? i live in indiana is it better to buy boxes or the paper wrapped rolls? i know nickels are the cheapest for boxes but do they yield the most? I only found 1 in a box of dimes and 2 nickels in customer wrapped rolls and 15 wheats in a penny box
dimes 250
quarters 500
nickels 150
halfs 500

Regarding hunting for silvers in circulating American coin... My experience (which speaks only for the area where I live) is: Halves haven't been worth the effort. That pool has already been vacuumed dry. Dimes are tough. 5 or 6 silver dimes in 8 or 9 bank boxes. Nickels yield better numbers, but the War Nickel silver content is so limited that the actual value yield is very limited. I haven't tried quarters yet, but I've been told they're the same as halves. My overall CRH experience is that if I'd spent an equivalent amount of time working at McDonald's and spent my paychecks on silver coins, I'd have a good deal more silver to show for my time and effort.

Good to see another Indiana CRH! I am in East central Indiana, near Richmond, IN. From my area, I have had success in all denominations, but here is breakdown of most silver to least. 1) Dimes (I average 5-7 per box in the last year) 2) Halves (Have found at least one silver in every 20-25 rolls searched on average) 3) Nickels (You will find War Nickels now and again, but not super common) 4) Quarters (I RARELY find any silver quarters while CRHunting, however, I actually found two this past week! but that was weird.) Hope it helps! What part of IN are you from?

It's hard to answer the question because it's generic. The answer is, it depends.
Most likely to have silver per $20 spent buying? Nickels Most likely to have silver in every box? Dimes, followed closely by nickels. Most likely to have a large number of silvers in a box? Halves, by far. Most silver for the money? Halves, by a long shot. Though some report differing opinions depending on location.

I always search dimes since I have the best random yield from them in the rolls. I typically have better luck with the customer wrapped rolls but it's close.

hm so I prolably shouldn't bother with quarters then I should try halves since I never bought a box of them yet. I didn't have that great of luck with dimes but then again I only bought one box and only got 1 dime ugh. so am I likely to get at least 1 40 percenter in a box of halfs? I have to go to a credit union cause my bank says there not allowed to keep them in there central vault ugh always have to be difficult. on top of that I take the coins lets say most of a box of dimes into the coin machine and I broke it lol and it happened to me 2 more times on seperate occasions I think they got mad at me cause they asked me where I got all the coins I said I'm a coin collecter I get them from my bank then take them here. it would be so much easier if the bank there would just take the rolls but they have to count the coins its ther policy ugh and I don't want to take the coins I just got from my bank back to them cause it would contaminate the supply am I right? lol don't want my town bank to get suspicious of me.

I had good luck with halves at first in my area. I am from the First State Capital of Indiana. Now I am in Evansville though and all the halves are dried up and a lot of times if they don't order you a box you get someones dump. I prefer Nickels, but that is because I find them more fun than dimes due to dimes being so small. As for silver my luck with dimes vs nickels is about the same, but dimes are 90% and thus better.
