So you guys and gals know that I just started my loonie and toonie collections. I adjusted my books to leave spaces for those loonies and toonies that the book didn't specify.
My question is that there are a handful of gold, silver and bronze loonies and toonies out there, and I'm curious for a nice set if I should leave spaces for these? If they are the same size as the actual loonie and toonie, then I would like to include them. Anyone have a list of what ones are the same specs as the regular toonie and loonies and which ones arent? That way I can leave spaces for the ones that are and not worry about ones that aren't. Thanks in advance. CHEERS!

I believe that they are all the same sizes with the exception of the 1996 Piedfort Toonie which is twice as thick.

The twoonie list is confusing - it mixes circulation and PL in the same pot. Proofs and specimens are not included.
All in all, more than 80 twoonies, not counting varieties still not cataloged.
I strongly recommend to check the Charlton Catalog.

My set is to include 1 for each year available for circulation. If there are 3 different ones for a particular year put into circulation, then I get them all. As for years that are only available in proof like sets....i get those so I have that year covered. But there are some years that bronze or sterling silver coin was made and I've been thinking of adding those to the set as long as they are the same size.

All twoonies are almost the same diameter - 28mm (very minor differences when comparing with proofs). As already mentioned, the 1996 piedfort proof is twice the thickness of a normal coin.
Twoonies were struck as proofs, specimens, PLs and business strikes from 1996 on. Number and type of coins per year varies but the 4 strikes are always present. There are cataloged and uncatalogued varieties.
