well well I guess I have enough coins at least to begin a folder or just a 1 page ('') of a coin collection.. the problem is;

hey! I just don't know how to begin a collection!

what could you probably advise me?
i think I just need some sound idea so that I can start.
i also think I need to see some set of coin collection.
how coins are arranged, how they are tagged and etc..
how about it?
thanks! thanks!

Well firstly Congrats!

What are you collecting specifically. A lot of members store their coins in 2x2 flips that you staple shut. However if you are collecting "just dimes" or "just US coins of 20th century" there are albums that you could purchase.

And pictures are always welcome!

i think I would collect any coins that are eye appealing to me, I think I would not consider its metal content, just the artistic side, the beauty of it.

I collect everything. I personally am a fan of the 2x2's in albums. It's easy to do and you can write the info about the coin on the flip. Off the top of my head I can't think of a better way to actually store and "tag' them

How to begin a collection? It sounds like you've already done that.
If you like it - then collect it.

As far as storage goes...

I think if you are looking at higher dollar coins, you may want to look at something like the hard plastic holders.

I personally collect world coins, so the 2x2s in a 20 pocket page is the best bet for me. You can put info about the coin on the 2x2. If this is the route you want to go, then check ebay. There are some 20 pocket pages that go for a dollar or so per page. There are some that go for $12 for 100 pages. Obviously a difference in quality.

Assuming you are not damaging the coin, there is also something to be said for touching and seeing a coin without any cover over it. It all depends on personal preference and what you like.

Don't get caught up in "Real coin collectors do this or that..."

Almost all new coin collectors ask those questions. Somewhere there should be a permanent post where everyone can add their 2 CENTS on how to store, collect, etc.
My advise is to first get familiar with the different coins you many be interested in. Find out if there are any coin shows, coin stores, hobby stores that carry coins in your area. Go there with the intent of learning, not buying until you know what you want. Never get stuck in the rut of investing, only keep it as a hobby. That way it will always be fun regardless of what it costs. Look for those 2x2 flips. By the way they also come in 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inch sizes which if you go to a coin show you'll notice most dealers have gone to those. (Cheapskates). Just kidding. They fit in their display cases better.
Now here is what I suggest as a starter. Go to a bank and buy a $50 bag of cents (pennies) and look through them for different dates, mint marks and errors. You may want to check out the coppercoins.com web site. You can do the same with nickels, dimes, etc. Then return the ones you don't want to another bank. Most banks don't like people that take them out and only to return them.
Great hobby, have fun and never take it to seriously.
