WWII War Token With 1944 Florin - Coin Community Forum

Arkie Pillar of the Community United States 2637 Posts	Posted 05/16/2013 10:17 pm Recently my wife's mother died. This had belonged to my wife's maternal grandfather. There is a 1944 Florin at the apex. One side says USN. MILNE. BAY. The other side says NEW. GUINEA. The accounts that I have read of the Battle of Milne Bay does not identify any US forces involved, but her father may have been in a Construction Battalion (the SeaBees). Some 1944 florins were produced in the US because there was a shortage of coinage due to the huge influx of US servicemen. Report this Post to the Staff
