I've got this yet-to-be-certified 1878-CC Trade dollar and I am looking for guidance as to whether or not it is real or fake. I checked the weight - which turned out to be right - and it is not magnetic. Anything else that I'm missing?

Also, any idea what it's worth based on its condition?

Welcome to Coin Community, previsp.

I see features which cause me a bit of worry, but at quick glance, not conclusive. I'm bothered by what I see as relative softness of strike on the obverse - knees and lap - and the denticles on both faces cause concern. Keep in mind, there are some very_good counterfeits of this coin extant. I have not yet researched known mint mark locations, and the images are a bit small to be conclusive either way.

So, I personally will call it "cautiously pessimistic," and let's await other members with more specific knowledge. They'll be here soon.

Like ssuperddave, the flat looking and soft details around the knee drew my attention and has me slightly concerned.

Welcome aboard, Previsp!

IMHO, it's a good one. If genuine, it's a $2,000+ coin, so I'd send it to PCGS. My guess at overall grade is XF-40. The reverse is arguably VF, methinks. There's a $1,000+ difference in price between VF and XF.
