In a new press release, the US Mint has announced a new product for this year...http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/?ac...ease&id=1463

This may in fact be the most sought after gold coin the US has produced in a very long time.

What are your thoughts? Any interest you have in purchasing this new item?

I think its just a matter of time before they start selling a reverse proof type set of circulating US coinage

I'm in for everything gold buffalo. I just don't want so many option that the series starts to look like the ASE series (which I also collect).

I am in!!! I am innnn!! I ammmmmmmm in!!

I enjoy collecting the Buff proofs so I am in, no doubt. I am so glad they are going to do this.

I really think the US Mint is going to get a big focus and priority for me going forward over other mints... doesn't mean I am going to drop off the others.. but like the China mints,, until they make more readily available proofs/medals in silver and gold, they are taking a back seat to my collecting. Same for the mexican mint (yes I know they have a specific name), the brits, and the aussies. After the US Mint, the RCM will get my attention.

.... the EXCEPTION to my collecting rule is the Somalian elephants, coins from world mints that feature elephants, rhinos,,, but thats pretty much it.

I really hope they start doing more series in gold and silver such as focusing on animals and with interesting and new finishes.

So again count me innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

On one of the blogs a picture was shown of the RP Buffalo & it sure didn't look all that great. Perhaps it'll be quite different in-hand. Not sure if I'll spring for it.

Ill go out on a limb and say the RP is a design that will look much better in silver or Platinum than gold just from the color contrasts
