NSF 1953 Flat Rim Silver Dollar? - Coin Community Forum

Jo1955 New Member Canada 41 Posts	Posted 05/19/2013 10:49 pm Hi everyone Here are two 1953 silver dollar They seem NSF to me. The first one( left)has a wire rim but the second (right)has a flat rim.That is how they were catalogued in the old album I was given to. I read that only the reissued SF had a flat rim. How come a NSF has a flat rim?Looking at them both, it looks like different strikes, the flat rim one having a cameo look. Is it why? I dont think they have high grades, but can you give me an explanation about the rims. Thank you Report this Post to the Staff

DBM Pillar of the Community Canada 9866 Posts	Posted 05/20/2013 02:13 am I see wire rims on both coins.One may have been flattened slightly by wear. Best thing to do is look at SF coins on ebay to see the difference.Usually quite a few there. "Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website Report this Post to the Staff
