Demarco Bishopp Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 548 Posts	Posted 05/20/2013 5:23 pm Oh yeah, I saw that judge with all the gold coins next to it. The description said the jug was buried with a few bronze coins wedged into the top so as to disguise the fact that the jug was in fact filled with gold. When it was finally discovered the jug was corroded so badly that it came apart when it was being pulled from the ground, revealing all the gold. Report this Post to the Staff

And in addition to the wonderful coins in many of the other exhibits, the coin room (across from the clocks and watches exhibit- Room 38) was really great. But I was surprised about how little emphasis was placed upon early modern trade coins, such as 8 Reales, Trade dollars, and Maria Theresa Trade Thalers. Oh well, at least the ancients were beautiful and the descriptions were thorough. Report this Post to the Staff
