It's not a MS-66 but it is miss-grade. I have looked at every MS-65 of this year and mint mark
from E-Bay and Heritage over the last 4 mo or so. Only 2 others are as nice or nicer in MS-65. This one
is graded MS-64 only. It has a dip residue Bloch toned areas that I think Ammonia will get off in less then
3 sec.
If it stays a MS-64 it will by far be the finest 64 around.

The ear is well defined and the coin is devoid of contact hits. Great shot at an upgrade. glty nlp

WOW!! What a 1891-O!! Easily a 64, I'd have to agree that it's possibly the nicest 64 out there, and truly see it possibly upgrading to a 65! Yikes, what a coin!
*Edit* Holy price jump between 64 and 65!! And 66 is just... Wow... Alot! I had no idea...

Well it stayed an MS-64!  I thought it would...  Not due to the fact that it is what the PCGS grade book states is a solid MS-65 "I have PCGS's grade book (Hard cover)" It is just a matter of the TPG companies protecting the population of high grades. Limiting the number of high grade coins in a grade sensitive year, ensures the higher price value's. You see this in the 1880 P Morgans as well To date "no MS-66+ or higher" has been graded. But look at all the 80 P MS-66 coins out there over 55% are a Vam-55 and on a grade curve of other 66 coins I know of 5 that are far nicer then the average. Anyway that's the report on where the coin stands |

Did you try and dip it before sending it back in? Maybe they won't give a spotty toned coin the MS65 or maybe there is something that is not showing up in your photos that they are able to see with there photos.

Not only is that the cleanest MS-64 I've seen but it's also a fantastic strike for a '91-O. I think they know it's a 65 and they're putting money on another submission...  |

Here's what it really looks like the other photos are from the dealer. The coin has very strong detail for an O Mint coin with great flash and luster as well as one of the strongest strikes I have seen in an 1889 O or 1891 O mint coin.   |

Maybe it is the rim nick at about 4 o' clock. It is a beautiful coin no matter what.

Isn't PCGS shooting each coin (or at least tough coins in borderline coins) with super high resolution phoots for their own database now? With software they can compare whether or not they have slabbed it before, thereby elliminating any "upgrades from coins they graded previously? Thats what I have heard, don't know if it's good info or just a rumour. But would explain why it's getting harder to upgrade certain coins lately.
