Found this one today, can just see the date but the damage doesn't really seem to extend to the queen, and there is no damage on the reverse either. Any ideas? Probably PMD but still interesting!

I reckon PMD aswell even though I can see a very small amount of detail in the queens hair and obverse right side is light "which could be to lighting", I'm not sure about the different tone were the legend is mostly gone? I dont think is a light strike or struck through but I like little oddities that keep you guessing

Yes I will keep it just because I've never seen anything similar :)
When I am gone, I think people will look through my coin collection and wonder why most of them are there haha

I am not sure about that one.
I am leaning towards strike through as I can't think of how it might have occurred as PMD.

I'm inclined to think either strike through or a filled die. If it was PMD, there should be some sort of marks visible.

It's a bit of a fence sitter.

Interesting.

I had one almost the same, last year.

I showed it to an Australian collector and he thought it was a contemporary forgery, though we were surprised that anyone would forge 20c coins.

He offered me an Australian penny dated 1915 in exchange and I was happy to accept.

Since then, I got a UK 10p in my change with similarly obscured legends, and I thought at the time it was a fake.

I think the same with my collection, most of them are odd looking but I like them.
