I recently bought this coin, but I think its fake. It feels like a fake - it doesn't feel like silver, it shines odd. But the cracks are convincing and what I believe to be a seam is small and isolated.

what are you guy's opinion? I emailed the guy, he's offered a full refund if I return it and the other coin I got is pretty nice, so he's definitely getting good feedback for it.

Seam(?):

The coin:

Its also not pure silver, if its silver.

Looks fine to me. If it's a cast, it's a quality cast; and I wouldn't have thought it worth their while to make quality casts of coins this cheap and obscure.

Well Ben I know nothing about these coins. So I googled it ! The first thing I noticed (after your post)
was a book The Coins of India by C J Brown and the phrase that jumped off the page was "inferior silver". Who knows what they may have alloyed with. Copper is the normal metal but they may have had some other impurities in the copper which give the silver a 'strange' appearance. You are a student still ..... find the Lab and measure the specific gravity. Copper is 8930 and silver is 10490 kg/cu.m As long as it comes in between the two it is good. If its over then you have something strange ..... Uranium or lead. I think the coin looks good. But I know nothing about the little beasties.

I think the coin is fine and 100% authentic. The coin actually looks like one of the earlier kings. Maybe Nahapana (50-75 AD) or Kardamaka (78-130 AD). These coins are surprisingly inexpensive and obscure. Dr. Alex Fishman (my favorite dealer) just completed the most comprehensive publication of these coins. I wish I could help you more but I have to wait to get my copy. Man I want to learn to read Brahmi. Also check out his for sale listings he has almost all the kings, so you might be able to pick yours out. I didn't got through them all.
