They were generally 1780-1800, very large and they were used as legal tender. Whilst this coin has no certain date attatched, farthings never got struck as conder tokens and the style is much later (1830-50). I just learnt something new, young Charles Dickens worked at Warren's Blacking Factory. He did not enjoy it! Report this Post to the Staff

I'm putting some up today or tomorrow though! The hole is square because it was made with a nail. Perhaps this was on a wall for a while or perhaps just to make the hole, but a square nail (probably a floorboard nail) was rammed through this at some point. Report this Post to the Staff
